EASTON, Pa.- More than three-and-a-half years after it was first announced, a new apartment building in Easton is welcoming tenants.

The Dutchtown Pointe apartments at 40 S. 6th Street are about 50-percent leased, Monty Kalsi of Center Valley’s ANR Development Company told 69 News.

The building isn’t a standard rectangle shape; rather, it looks like several different structures stacked together, with the tallest, five-story portion in the back. The facade is a mix of different colors and materials: stone, veneer brick, fiber cement cladding.

Kalsi said the exterior design was tweaked to allay concerns from neighbors who thought the building would look out of place in the city’s historic district. “I think it turned out really well,” he said. “It lends itself well to the streetscape.”

The project, unveiled in July 2022, originally was targeting a winter 2023 completion date, but the design changes, coupled with other delays, moved the finish line to January of this year.

There are 34 units total, a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, with 1,700-square-feet of commercial space on the first floor.

Monthly rent for the apartments ranges from $1,600 to $3,300. Most of the higher-end units are already leased, Kalsi said.

Amenities include a dog wash, gym, underground parking, and a rooftop terrace and lounge for residents.

Many of the units also have terraces of their own. “The way it’s set up in the historic district provides a lot of outdoor space for the tenants,” said Kalsi. “The layout is pretty open. We’re trying to create a space where the tenants can enjoy a lot of outside views, especially the southeast side. They’re beautiful.”

An official grand opening for Dutchtown Pointe will most likely happen in May, Kalsi said.
