Hundreds of people attended a candlelight vigil on Friday night for the four Yough High School students killed in a crash last weekend.

Officials said 15-year-old Brady Hunker, 18-year-old Rocco Zugai, 15-year-old Felicity Martini and 16-year-old Kylee Korber were killed in the crash on March 21 near Creek Road in Sewickley Township.

The vehicle left the roadway before striking a tree and becoming engulfed in flames, investigators said. Now, a memorial with flowers, pictures and crosses sits at the crash site, a reminder of the young lives lost.

The vigil was at Crabapple Park and Pool in Herminine and was filled with prayer, quiet reflection and remembrance. Melissa Cangioli called it a “beautiful service.”

“We have been forced to say goodbye way too soon,” said a pastor who spoke at the vigil. “It’s not fair. It is wrong.”

Another pastor offered a poignant commentary while standing in front of the crowd.

“What I want our young people to remember when we get behind the wheels of our vehicles, you are expected to drive respectfully and responsibly,” the pastor said. “I know these are difficult words for me to share, but I think they are important words.”

The service ended with the singing of “Amazing Grace,” the release of lanterns and the lighting of individual candles.

“It was difficult, but I stayed strong through it,” said Alexis Hays, a friend of Martini. “Felicity was a great person. She was the best person that she could be.”

Classmates of the victims told KDKA on March 23 that they will not be “forgotten.”

“They’re always going to be within our hearts and our souls,” a classmate said. “They’re always going to be walking beside us and watching down on us.”
