A man was rescued from a trench at the Pittsburgh Regional Transit South Hills junction garage Saturday morning, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

According to public safety, an employee fell into a 12-foot deep concrete trench at the garage. The man was pinned at the bottom of the narrow trench, which was partially filled with oil.

Rescue crews responded just after 9 a.m.

Crews with Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Services used a rope and tripod system to get the man out.

Paramedics decontaminated the man, who was covered in oil, public safety said.

The man, who had arm and spinal injuries, was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

A PRT spokesperson could not immediately be reached for additional information.
