CORAL GABLES, Fla. / RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s track & field teams wrapped up competition on Saturday competing at the Hurricane Invitational in Florida and the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
Ryan Matulonis led the Quakers in the men’s hurdles finishing first at the Hurricane Invitational with a time of 49.58.
Jailyn Milord led the women’s team in the 400m with a fifth-place finish in 53.27, ranked fourth in program history. Rianna Floyd followed in eighth at 54.08, moving into eighth all-time.
Milord and Floyd later teamed with Simone Castelluccio and Giuliana Ligor to place third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:39.47. The women’s 4×100 relay team of Jordyn Reed, Milord, Floyd, and Milan Ramey finished fifth at 45.17, also moving to sixth on Penn’s all-time performance list.
Atticus Soehren recorded a personal-best throw of 67.47m (221′ 4″) in the men’s javelin to place sixth. Soehren’s mark ranks fourth in program history.
Matthew Kathiravelu finished third in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 14.69m (48′ 2.5″)
Angel Assah placed fifth in the shot put invitational putting 15.95m (52’4″). Kai Deines placed fourth in the men’s field recording a mark of 17.13m (56′ 2.5″).
On the track, Shane Gardner took second in the men’s 110m hurdles final clocking 14.00. Sofia Swindell advanced through the preliminary round of the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 13.70, ranked sixth in program history.
At the Raleigh Relays, Sarah Fischer finished 26th out of 221 athletes competing in the women’s 5000m recording a personal-best time of 16:08.90. Fischer’s time ranks sixth in program history.
In the women’s 800m, Alexa Matora finished 54th in a field of 182 runners with a time of 2:10.91.
Ella Neskora placed 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.09m (174′ 2″).
On the men’s side, Vinay Raman led the Quakers in the 800m, finishing 22nd in a field of 198 competitors with a time of 1:51.09, Benjamin Markham placed 45th at 1:51.71.
Penn returns to competition next weekend in Princeton, N.J. at the Sam Howell Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
