PITTSBURGH – Outdoor track and field season is underway, and despite temperatures in the mid-30s, IUP had a strong showing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University.
Sterlene Scott (400 meters) and Bella Brozeski (400-meter hurdles) each posted PSAC qualifying times, giving the Crimson Hawks three qualifiers through the first two days of outdoor competition.
Scott finished the 400 meters in 58.83 seconds, earning a top-five finish and recording her fastest time in the event during her IUP career. Brozeski placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.77, just tenths of a second off her personal record.
The Crimson Hawks competed against several PSAC programs, along with a range of Division I and Division III teams.
IUP returns to competition April 9-10 at an invitational hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.
