Owen Schalk scored on a 10-yard run in overtime and Berks Catholic’s defense stopped Annville-Cleona on fourth down as the Saints won the Lancaster-Lebanon Section 5 football title with a 14-7 overtime victory on Friday night at Berks Catholic.

In a winner-takes-all title game, Berks Catholic (8-2, 7-0 Section 5) and Annville-Cleona (8-2, 6-1) were tied at 7-7 after regulation.

Annville-Cleona led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter on Devon Englehart’s 1-yard scoring run.

The Saints tied the game in the second quarter on Jeremiah Camara’s 11-yard TD run.

After a scoreless second half, Schalk scored on the Saints’ first play in overtime, and Alex Reali kicked the extra point.

The Saints had a 210-103 edge in total offense, and gained 180 of those yards on the ground.

Camara led the Saints in rushing with 70 yards on 9 carries and Xavier Gerald had 56 yards on 15 attempts. Schalk had 38 yards on 7 carries. Quarterback Johnny Sauppee completed 4 of 6 passes for 30 yards.

Berks Catholic should be the top seed for the six-team District 3 Class 3A playoffs and receive a first-round bye. The Saints will play a home semifinal game on Friday, Nov. 7.
