ADFM represents more than 150 academic departments of family medicine nationwide, supporting leaders in care, education, scholarship and advocacy. Board members help guide national strategy around workforce development, specialty definition and primary care clinical efforts.

“This is an opportunity to represent our institution on a national level and be more closely connected to the efforts shaping the future of family medicine,” Kavanaugh said. “I want to be part of leading change locally and nationally.”

Kavanaugh is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, an AAFP Health Equity Fellow and a past president of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians. She is a clinical associate professor of Family and Community Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
