“Good. Business as usual. I’m excited for a good turnout for the May Primary,” Brianna Nigronne-Souza responded.
At least for now, Lehigh County Board of Elections Deputy Chief Clerk Brianna Nigrone-Souza is leading the preps for the May primary.
This as 16-year Chief Clerk Tim Benyo recently left the post.
“You said he did a good job, just kind of laying out a good foundation of what everybody has to do?” Bo asked.
“Oh, yeah, definitely trained all of us,” Nigrone-Souza responded.
Benyo is now senior advisor on election administration to the Committee of Seventy.
It’s a non-partisan, nonprofit working to protect the integrity of voters and the election process.
“I’m going to have more of an influence. Helping counties in any way that they possibly need with, you know, conducting elections, you know, free, fair and secure,” Benyo said.
Lehigh County Executive Josh Siegel says a replacement is expected to be hired by the end of the month. 10 candidates are in the mix.
The voting process, whether mail in, drop box or in person, will remain the same.
“A great team of frontline employees who know how to run the polls, know how to tabulate and count all of the mail in ballots. You know, nothing is going to change about the election process or procedure,” Siegel said.
