Featuring James Britt, vice president of sports events at VisitPITTSBURGH and current Sports, Entertainment, Arts, and Law (SEAL) certificate student, with welcome remarks from Pitt Law Dean Jerry Dickinson. Britt will share insights into the legal strategy and regulatory considerations involved in hosting a major national event like the NFL Draft, highlighting the intersection of law, business, and the sports industry. The presentation will include a discussion with Britt and Pitt Law faculty members Stephanie Dangel and Steve Tanzilli, who are part of the SEAL faculty team. “Ethics and Economics of Expertise: The University in the AI Age Speakers Series,” with Catharine “Cappy” Bond Hill, former president of Vassar College

The Research, Ethics & Society Initiative hosts the lecture series, which fosters conversations on the long-term structural challenges and opportunities facing higher education. Hill, who also served as provost at Williams College, and senior fellow (chair) or the Yale Board of Trustees, is an economist whose work focuses on higher education affordability and access. Ross Harrison, a senior fellow and book series editor at the Middle East Institute, will discuss the situation unfolding in the Middle East, how we got here, and possible futures. He also a faculty member in Pitt’s political science department, where he teaches courses on Middle East politics and U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.
