HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) — A Pennsylvania State Police bomb tech was called to a Hanover store Tuesday for a grenade.
Memories Hanover, a business that deals with antiques and collectibles, discovered the World War II grenade after opening a box that had “Army” written on it, according to a Facebook post. There were binoculars, dog tags, a knife and the grenade inside.
Out of caution, the store alerted authorities, which led to a state police bomb tech being called. abc27 News left an inquiry with state police Tuesday afternoon for additional details, but has yet to hear back.
The grenade was not live, the store said.

In the post, the store said the concern with the grenade was with the original shipping cork in the bottom, and it was unsure about anything being inside the grenade.
Even though the business handles these types of items regularly, this one created more doubts than other items. Being a red grenade, it could have been packed with TNT instead of powder, the store said in an updated post.
