It may not feel like spring outside on the first day of April, but inside Sara’s, at the entrance of Presque Isle State Park, the first signs of summer are already in full swing.
The classic restaurant was bustling with customers celebrating opening day. From curly fries and burgers to milkshakes and ice cream, guests lined up for the favorites that have become a seasonal tradition.
For staff, reopening day is always special, a chance to welcome the community back after a long winter. Owner Sean Candela said the return of Sara’s marks the unofficial start of spring and summer in Erie, giving Erie residents their first taste of summer.
According to Candela, “It’s like there’s no sunshine, but people are in here smiling. It’s so good, it’s what makes Erie great. People look forward to this. They know how tough the winter is, and we’re all looking forward to Presque Isle.”
Sara’s wasn’t the only sign of the season of the return of summer. Local favorites Whippy Dip and Creamland also opened for the season.
