READING, Pa. – The Berks County Board of Elections voted Thursday to change a polling place for the 2026 primary election in Spring Township.

The change will relocate the polling place for Precinct 13 to GT Church, at 1110 Snyder Road, from the Spring Ridge Elementary School.

Chairman Michael Rivera said the change was a result of a request from the Wilson School District, citing security issues for children in the classrooms.

Also Thursday, the panel agreed to the filing of a voter registration challenge affidavit, a recommendation from Solicitor Cody Kauffman.

Kauffman explained that the case involves an incident in the 2024 general election, as well as other elections going back to 2012, where an unnamed voter was registered and voted in both Berks and Mongomery Counties.

Kauffman said he would not go into any specific details because it is an active criminal investigation.

Kauffman said the Berks County Board of Elections was being asked to file a challenge affidavit because the county can only remove voters from the voter rolls in very limited circumstances.

But the state does lay out a challenge procedure where the county can challenge individuals who are believed to be improperly registered.

“It will give the elector the opportunity to respond and then if they don’t do so sufficiently, we’re able to cancel their registration,” he added.

The board also voted Thursday to approve the poll working and training pay rates for the May 19 primary election.

Poll workers will continue to receive $200 for working on election day.

Judge of Elections and interpreters will receive $55 for attending election training and other poll workers will receive $35 for attending training.
