Reading is giving property owners more time to comply with annual housing registration requirements after the launch of a new online system.

The 2026 Housing Renewal grace period has been extended through April 30.

Officials said the extension gives landlords and other affected property owners additional time to complete renewals required by city code.

Officials said some users encountered difficulties navigating the new digital platform intended to streamline registration, payments and account management.

“We realized there were some challenges with the new system,” Mayor Eddie Moran said in a statement. “This extension gives our property owners the time they need to navigate it while we continue working to make our services more efficient and accessible for everyone in our community.”

City officials said the additional time is intended to ease the transition while improvements to the online system continue.

Property owners who fail to renew by the extended deadline could still face late fees or enforcement actions.

Those with questions about the renewal process can contact the city’s property inspection office by email at PropertyInspections@ReadingPA.gov or by phone at 877-727-3234.

Inquiries should include the account email and property address.
