EXETER TWP., Pa. – A popular destination for chicken sandwiches, nuggets and more will soon be temporarily shuttered for months as a renovation project takes place.

A location of Chick-fil-A, the quick-service restaurant company known for its freshly-prepared chicken selections, will temporarily close in the coming months, at 4675 Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Township, a manager told 69 News.

An official date for the temporary closure has not yet been determined, but it should be sometime later this spring or in early summer.

The temporary closure would last for approximately 17 weeks, the manager said.

Chick-fil-A, Inc. confirmed the location’s upcoming temporary closure with a statement.

“Chick-fil-A Exeter will temporarily close in the coming months to make updates, and is expected to reopen later this year, pending any delays,” the statement reads.

“Once open, the newly remodeled restaurant will feature improvements to the drive-thru, parking lot and other areas of the restaurant to improve Team Member efficiency. The restaurant will share more details, including updated timing, as they become available.”

Chick-fil-A Exeter opened in 2009 in the Exeter Commons.

“Shawn Filby will continue serving as the local owner-operator and looks forward to remaining a part of the community and continuing to serve guests delicious food with remarkable service,” the company statement continues.

In October 2023, the Chick-fil-A land redevelopment plan passed its final hurdle and was approved unanimously by the Exeter Township supervisors.

The process began in May of that year when the supervisors approved a variance to reduce the width of the drive-thru lanes from 18 feet to 16 feet.

The site had been reconfigured to expand the kitchen area on the west side of the building to allow more food to be prepared more quickly.

Also, two drive-thru lanes for ordering and meal delivery will now run around the site so that increased traffic can move more expeditiously.

To replace the landscaping that will be removed for construction, new landscaping will be added to the east of the building.

Chick-fil-A is a family-owned and privately held company founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy, according to a company description.

More than 200,000 team members are employed by local owner-operators in more than 3,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in the UK in early 2025 with the goal of launching five locations across the UK within the next two years. The first Singapore restaurant opened in late 2025, marking the brand’s entry into Asia.
