The average gas price in Erie is up to $4.121 as of April 3, according to AAA. The gas prices website reported that fuel prices in Erie jumped up nearly 16 cents from $3.962 on April 2.
According to AAA, the average on April 2 was $4.075 in Pennsylvania, compared to the national average of $4.091.
On April 3, the national average was $4.091 and the average in Pennsylvania was $4.117.

This is the first time in four years that the national average has exceeded $4 per gallon.
These prices are still below the highest recorded average from June of 2022 when regular gas reached $5.056.
On April 3, gas prices in Erie averaged over $4 per gallon. Most prices jumped over 16 cents from April 2. This is a look at the prices at Country Fair at 5211 E. Lake Road.
Diesel prices climb above $6 per gallon
While the price on regular gasoline continue to surge, the price on diesel is even higher.
AAA shows that in Erie the average for diesel was $6.079 on April 3, jumping nearly 5 cents from a price of $5.966 per gallon on April 2. The highest diesel prices ever recorded in Erie were $6.138 on May 19, 2022, according to AAA.
Diesel prices in Pennsylvania jumped $0.071 per gallon overnight from April 2 to April 3. The average diesel price in Pennsylvania on April 3 is $6.011 per gallon.
The diesel prices are not that far behind the highest price recorded back in 2022 when diesel was at $6.328 per gallon.
On April 3, diesel prices in Erie exceeded $6 per gallon. This is the price of diesel at the Country Fair at 5211 E. Lake Road.

AAA states that crude oil prices have been surging while surpassing $100 per barrel as the conflict in the Middle East goes on and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed to most commercial traffic.
