(WHTM) — A plane landed on a Pennsylvania highway Saturday morning due to “engine issues,” according to preliminary reporting from the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to State Police in Bethlehem, a Rockwell Commander plane, occupied by a 65-year-old male pilot from Michigan and a 34-year-old female passenger from New Jersey, departed from Solberg, New Jersey, and attempted to fly to Indiana at around 9:19 a.m. on April 4.

Troopers say while en route, the operator reported “unknown engine problems” and attempted to fly to a nearby airport, but was unsuccessful.

The plane, Troopers said, landed on I-78 Eastbound at mile marker 45.6 in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County. There were no injuries to either person.
