READING, Pa. – Authorities say a suspect is in custody as they investigate a deadly overnight shooting at the DoubleTree hotel in Reading.
District Attorney John Adams tells 69 News the incident happened around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday.
The Berks County Coroner’s Office confirmed that one person was killed in the incident, which took place inside the hotel near the lobby area.

The DA says the suspect, Hamlet Vargas, 46, has been taken into custody.
Vargas is charged with first- and third-degree murder, aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person.
