Red Light Camera Enforcement Begins In Lower Merion Twp.

LOWER MERION, PA — Red light camera enforcement has begun in Lower Merion Township.

Enforcement began Monday at Remington Road and Lancaster Avenue — an intersection with frequent red light violations, according to a study.

Warnings will be issued through June 5. Afterward, the registered owner of each violating vehicle will get a citation, according to local officials.

Last year, Lower Merion Township’s Board of Commissioners approved a red light camera program.

Officials planned to bring the first automated cameras to Lancaster and Remington — identified as a problematic intersection with 83 recorded violations in a study by the Sensys Gatso Group.

After a 12-to-18 month trial period, officials will evaluate the program’s effectiveness at Lancaster and Remington.
