UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This summer, Penn State Extension will offer a virtual cooking camp for youth in Pennsylvania, open to both 4-H members and non-4-H youth ages 8-18.

The cooking camp will take place from 9-11:30 a.m. July 20-24. This year’s theme is “Around the Table: A Five‑Course Adventure,” where participants will create a five‑course meal — one course at a time.

Led by educators from Penn State Extension’s food, families and communities team, youth will learn essential kitchen skills, food safety, nutrition basics and table etiquette — all while having fun cooking from home.

Participants will make one recipe each day. Adult supervision is required, and an accompanying adult will work alongside the youth during the camp.

Campers will receive the recipe ingredients and cooking equipment list before camp; organizers will provide shopping lists at least one week prior. If campers cannot find ingredients or equipment, they are welcome to substitute ingredients, skip steps or simply learn along with other campers.

Organizers noted that preregistration is required by July 12 and carries a fee of $10.

Payment must be received or postmarked within five days of registering to hold the spot. Registration can be paid by credit card or by mailing a check made payable to Penn State University to Pennsylvania 4-H State Office, Attn: PA 4-H Virtual Cooking Camp, 453 Shortlidge Road, University Park, PA 16802.

More information can be found on the registration website at https://4h.zsuite.org/external-event-registration/47429.
