Officers began to evacuate the area as bomb squad officials determined the object was an “inert training grenade and was not live.” After it was determined there was no risk to the public, those evacuated were allowed back into their homes around 12:15 p.m. An investigation is ongoing. An investigation is underway after officials said an inert training grenade was located on a porch in Pittsburgh’s North Side on Wednesday, leading to multiple residents being evacuated.
City police and bomb squad officials were called to the 500 block of East Ohio Street after 11:30 a.m. following reports of a grenade located on a porch.
Officers began to evacuate the area as bomb squad officials determined the object was an “inert training grenade and was not live.”
