The first five years of a child’s life are vital for developing a foundation for learning, good health practices and appropriate behaviors. To that end, a cadre of educational, medical and social service providers have launched the “Start Strong Together” campaign, aiming to reach families who are either underserved or unaware of the extensive support services available. The organizations involved can provide parenting guidance, early intervention and screenings, behavior modification and school enrollment assistance. The Lackawanna County commissioners, recognizing the value of such services, declared April “Start Strong Together” Month.
