SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man stole a Jeep from valet services at Geisinger Hospital in Scranton, then immediately drove into two vehicles.
On April 7, around 8:20 a.m., officers were called to the Geisinger CMC parking lot for the report of a man who had stolen a Jeep Wrangler from valet services.
Police say the suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Hall, 58, of New Hampshire, crashed the vehicle and fled on foot. Hall was then found in the hospital lobby about a half hour later and was taken into custody.
Hall told police that he was at the hospital with his friend after a crash that happened the previous day while traveling from New Hampshire to Indiana.

The valet services at the hospital said that Hall walked behind the valet podium, pushed one of them, grabbed another who was attempting to park the Jeep, and removed him from it, as stated in the affidavit.
Officers reported that Hall entered the vehicle, accelerated at a high rate of speed, and crashed into two parked vehicles.
According to court documents, surveillance video showed Hall exiting the vehicle after the crash and “walking away in a calm manner.”
Hall claims to have no recollection of the incident. He has been charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, theft by unlawful taking, and other related offenses.
A spokesperson for Geisinger released the following statement in response to the incident:
“Geisinger prioritizes the safety and security of our patients, visitors and employees above all else, and we take seriously any incidents that challenge that safety and security. The Scranton Police Department is investigating this incident, and Geisinger Community Medical Center is cooperating with law enforcement to support that investigation.”
