While the iconic colors of the Steel City remain the focal point, this year’s alternate jersey introduces subtle nods to regional history and a modernized logo that aims to bridge the gap between the team’s historic origins and the present day.

Revealing Pirates alternate jerseys 2026
The Pirates officially dropped their 2026 City Connect uniforms on Thursday morning, revealing an “all-in” tribute to the Steel City’s grit and heritage. Moving away from bright yellow tones, the new kit features a dominant matte black base paired with gold accents and a gold hat.

The jersey reveal video, starring former Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett, highlights the team’s “We Bleed Black and Gold” mantra.
“This is our city. These are our colors,” Burnett said. “When we wear black, they know we mean business.”
The details of the jersey serve as a love letter to Pittsburgh’s history, most notably featuring a prominent 1887 patch on the sleeve, a nod to the year the club joined the National League. A sharp-edged font stretches across the chest in gold, while a red Nike swoosh provides a sharp pop of contrast. The uniform is topped off with a modified version of the classic logo.
