Thanks for supporting child cancer fundraiser
Editor: The “March for Michael” hot dog fundraiser was held during the month of March at St. Michael’s Lanes in Freeland. A grand total of $3,521 was raised and will be donated to the Child Life Oncology AYA department at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in memory of Michael Detweiler, son of Larry and Mary (Murmello) Detweiler, who passed away from an inoperable brain tumor at the age of 17.
Donations were received from the following businesses and individuals: F.A.S.T., Sal Sorrento, Inc., American Legion Post 473, Sons of Erin, Freeland VFW 5010, Robert McNulty III Funeral Home, Freeland Rotary Club, Carones Market, Thursday Mixed League, St. Michael’s Greek Orthodox Church, Michalene Prokopovich and Jim Eisenhart, Wayne Fairchild, Helen Anne and Gerry Soroko, Carol Ann and Thomas Ogorzalek, John Murmello, Bob and Theresa Ayers, Maria and Ed Barna, Dan Ravina, Jim and Joan DiPronio, Chuck Ravina, JoAnn Koral, Barbara Batcha, Greg and Diane Stahora, Carol and Jim Fisher, Dan Kopczynskie, Barbara, Patricia and Leon Wydock, Gerry and Sharon Medash, Joel Matushoneck, and Gina and Casimer Murmello.
Donations of hot dogs, buns, sauerkraut and condiments were received from the following: Carl Matisak, Robert Angelo, Tony Ferreira, Sr., Dan Ravina, Dan Kopczynskie, and Gina and Adam Hauze.
A sincere thank you is extended to all of the above and to the numerous individuals, family, and friends, along with St. Michael’s bowlers who purchased the hot dogs or just dropped a donation in the jug for the cause.
Special thanks is extended to Dan Ravina for his endless support of this annual fund raiser and to St. Michael’s employees, Sharon, Michele and Jamie. With this years donation, a total of $37,112 has been raised at the lanes to help the pediatric patients and their families at C.H.O.P.
