Road closed, hole opened after Scranton main break

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY — A section of North Main Avenue will be closed until Friday morning at the earliest after a hole opened up in the road due to a main break.

According to a Scranton Police sergeant, the hole opened Thursday evening on the corner of North Main Avenue and Clearview Street.

North Main Avenue will be closed between Providence Road and Green Ridge Street, until at least 10:00 a.m. Friday.

According to Alana Roberts of PA American Water, there are no customers without water service, as the main was a sewer line. Crews will be doing emergency repairs to wastewater system manholes through at least Friday morning.
