A section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension will be closed early Sunday morning for general roadway maintenance.
The closure is scheduled for northbound Interstate 476 between Quakertown (exit 44) and Lehigh Valley (exit 56) between midnight and 5 a.m. Southbound lanes will remain open.
During the closure, travelers should take the following detour:
• Route 663 north for 3.3 miles
• Route 309 north for 9.3 miles
• Interstate 78 west for 6.3 miles
• Route 309 north for 1 mile
• Tilghman Street west or Route 22 west for 1.1 miles
• Re-enter at Lehigh Valley interchange.
Additionally, the mainline turnpike (Interstate 76) westbound will be shut down from Downingtown (exit 312) to Morgantown (exit 298) in Chester and Berks counties between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday for general maintenance. Also, the exit ramps to Route 29 (exit 320) in Chester County will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday with two 15-to-30 minute closures to the turnpike entrance ramp between 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday.
State police and turnpike workers will be available to assist drivers at both work sites.
