A man who is accused of sexually abusing a child and going on the run from Pittsburgh Police has been arrested in North Carolina. Authorities say Earl Kenney Jr. was captured and arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday.Kenney is charged with the rape of a juvenile, endangering the welfare of children and failure to register as a sex offender connected to an incident in August of 2025. In December of 2025, Pittsburgh’s Police went to a home on Charles Street after they received a tip of children being sexually abused. On that day, they discovered four children living in squalor. According to police, the children were found living with 20 cats, feces in every room, no heat, no beds, and nothing to eat. According to court papers, “the only food they are given comes from their mother, who keeps all food locked in the trunk of her car.”The mother of the children did not live with them, but instead lived with Kenney, a registered sex offender, a few doors down. Court papers show Kenney was convicted of sex crimes against children in 2007 and 2008, and police say he has been abusing a 15-year-old inside the home several times a week at least three years.“The members of the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force worked diligently to locate Earl Kenney Jr. in North Carolina. And with the cooperation and quick actions of our Marshal Services counterparts in North Carolina, this dangerous individual is now off the streets and in custody,” U.S. Marshal Stephen Eberle said.
