Erie County Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center serving residents across Erie County, announced the appointment of Troy Chaffin as its new chief executive officer, according to a news release.
Chaffin brings more than 16 years of public health and health care leadership experience to Erie County Community Health Center.
Most recently, he served as chief operating officer for Lorain County Health & Dentistry, another federally qualified health center, where he worked for more than eight years.
Prior to that role, Chaffin spent eight years with the Erie County Health Department, where he served as assistant health commissioner before departing in 2017.
A native of Collins in northern Huron County, Chaffin holds a bachelor of arts degree in public health from the University of Mount Union and a master of public health administration from the University of Toledo.
In his new role, Chaffin will lead Erie County Community Health Center’s continued growth and commitment to providing accessible, high-quality and integrated health care services to the community, including primary care, dental services, behavioral health and pharmacy services, the release said.
“I’m honored to return to Erie County and join the Erie County Community Health Center team,” Chaffin said in the release. “This organization plays a vital role in ensuring individuals and families have access to the care they need.
“I’m excited to work alongside such a dedicated team to continue expanding services and improving health outcomes across our community.”
Erie County Health Commissioner Peter Schade welcomed Chaffin’s leadership and deep connection to the region.
“We are thrilled to welcome Troy back to Erie County,” Schade said in the release. “His extensive experience in federally qualified health centers, combined with his strong understanding of our community, makes him the right leader at the right time.
“We look forward to the continued growth and success of the Erie County Community Health Center under his leadership.”
The Erie County Community Health Center operates as part of the Erie County Health Department and serves as a critical access point for care, ensuring all residents — regardless of income or insurance status — can receive comprehensive health care services, the release said.
