WHITEHALL, Pa. – People laced up their sneakers on Saturday for a good cause.
They hit the track at Whitehall High School for its two-mile Community Run and Walk for charity.
The event was organized by a senior student from the school’s Interact Club.
All proceeds benefit Heifer International, a nonprofit that works to end hunger worldwide by providing livestock and agricultural resources to families in need.
This is the first year for the event.
“There’s been times where it’s like, you know, you don’t know if it’s gonna be successful or not, especially at this earlier start but it ended up going great,” said Habib Leyos, the organizer of the event.
He says they raised more than 2,500 dollars on Saturday and they hope to bring the event back for years to come.
