King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands kicked off their official visit to the United States in Philadelphia, where they toured historic landmarks with Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro. The royal couple visited Independence Hall and viewed the Liberty Bell as part of their tour, coinciding with preparations for the U.S. 250th birthday celebration. Shapiro spoke about the historical connection between the Netherlands and Pennsylvania, saying, “We’re incredibly proud of the close relationship. We are proud to find ways to have common prosperity.
