READING, Pa. – Reading Police are investigating an apparent double shooting at an unpermitted “after hours club” in the city.
It happened just after 6 a.m. Sunday when police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Muhlenberg Street for a reported shooting.
Responding officers located multiple shell casings in the block as well as several vehicles apparently struck by gunfire.
Around the same time, police say a man arrived at Reading Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. His condition is not known at the time.
Several hours later, police received a separate call about a man who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm.
Police believe both these shootings are tied to the incident in the 1700 block of Muhlenberg.
Officers responding to the shooting scene located what police describe as an unpermitted after-hours club at the location, which is where investigators believe the altercation began.
The City of Reading is currently working to enact legislation to crack down on illegal bars and after-hours clubs.
The investigation into the shootings is active and ongoing.
