Sandy Harrison Missmer
OBITUARY
Sandy Harrison Missmer, 85, formerly of Macungie and Towamensing Trails, was born to the late June Ruth (née Yufer) and Harrison Ellsworth Missmer in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Sandy graduated from Allen High School in 1959, where he met his wife of 57 years, the late Cora-celeste VanDerburgh Missmer (née Scott).
Sandy was a proud Eagle Scout and veteran of the US Army, including service in Korea. Post military service, Sandy worked for more than 30 years for P.A. Peters, Allentown. His final career chapter was as a marine mentor and outfitter at Cabela’s, Hamburg. Multiple employee of the month awards reflected his deep knowledge and love for fishing and hunting. An avid outdoorsman, Sandy was a life member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club and United Bowhunters of Pennsylvania. This passion was also reflected in years of service to Allentown YMCA, where he was involved first in the “Y” Divers and then as a dad through Y Princesses, Trailblazers, and at the former Camp Adams.
A member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Emmaus, Sandy was best known for the Men’s Easter Breakfast in the 1980s/90s.
He is survived by his daughters, Stacey Missmer (Andrew Ogilvie) and Mindy Lee Lipsky (Michael Lipsky). He was Pop-pop to grandchildren Olivia and Joshua Ogilvie and Rebecca and Zachary Lipsky, and Uncle Sandy to nephews Thomas and Louis DeMartinis and niece Jennie Dishong (Brian Dishong).
Cremains will be inurned privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
