BETHEL TWP., Pa. – A Florida man has been identified as the victim of a hit-and-run incident that happened Friday on I-78 in Berks County.

The Berks County Coroner says 33-year-old Phillip Daniel Henderson of Bessemer, Florida, was struck and killed by a passing box truck while adjusting the load on his tractor trailer that was pulled to the shoulder.

Officials say the box truck failed to stop and fled the scene.

The incident happened on 78 eastbound just east of exit 13 in Bethel Township at approximately 11:15 a.m. Friday.

Henderson was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:20 p.m. Friday by the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center.
