A free bike rodeo aimed at helping kids ride safely this summer is coming to Erie.
PennDOT, Safe Kids Erie County, and Shriners Children’s Erie are hosting the event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Shriners Children’s Erie at 1645 West 8th Street. The goal is to teach children safe biking habits just in time for warmer weather.
Children of all ages are welcome to participate, but they must bring a bike, a helmet, and a parent or guardian to sign a permission slip. Activities will include an obstacle course to practice bike‑handling skills, helmet safety checks, and minor bike repairs. Loaner bikes will be available for those who need one.
All participants will be entered into a drawing to win a new bike, and a light meal will be provided. Organizers encourage families to pre‑register through PennDOT’s website.
Event organizers say the bike rodeo offers families a fun way to spend an evening together while helping kids learn lifelong safety skills.
