ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown police have arrested five people, including four juveniles, after a robbery and assault that unfolded Tuesday afternoon on the city’s west side.
According to a press release from the police, officers were called to the area of 15th and Turner streets around 2:05 p.m. after reports of a gunshot. When they arrived, police found a robbery victim who told officers the incident began near Fulton and Turner streets.
According to the victim, an SUV pulled up to them, and someone inside challenged him to a fight. Another person in the vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and fired a shot into the air. Police say four additional individuals then got out of the SUV, chased the victim, assaulted him, and forcibly stole his sneakers before fleeing.
The victim suffered moderate injuries, police say.
Authorities say a short time later, patrol officers located the SUV in the 1400 block of Turner Street and identified the occupants. Police say they recovered a handgun along with the victim’s stolen sneakers inside the vehicle.
Thanks to quick work by patrol officers, the Youth Division, and the Criminal Investigations Division, five suspects were taken into custody, according to the release.
Police say 42‑year‑old Latiyah Levell of Allentown, who is accused of firing the handgun during the incident, has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
Four boys, ages 14, 15, 15, and 15, all from Allentown, are accused of assaulting and robbing the victim. They are each charged with robbery, simple assault, theft, receiving stolen property, and two counts of criminal conspiracy, according to officials.
