Firefighters from throughout Berks County and eastern Pennsylvania along with members of the public streamed into the auditorium at Fleetwood High School to pay their respects Friday to Walnuttown Fire Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick Jr., who were killed Saturday, April 4 while searching for a missing woman in Richmond Township.
They were operating a UTV along Rte. 222 when their vehicle was struck head-on. A New York man who was driving the vehicle that hit them has been charged with vehicular homicide while DUI, hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the auditorium, with doors opening at 9:15. There will be no viewing Saturday, and burials will be private.
