Four teens assaulted a man and stole his shoes during a robbery Tuesday afternoon in Allentown, according to police.
According to police, an SUV drove up to the victim about 2 p.m. in the area of 15th and Turner streets, and one of the occupants challenged him to a fight. At the same time, another occupant of the SUV, 42-year-old Latiyah Leavell, pointed a handgun at the man and then fired it into the air, authorities said.
Four teenage boys got out of the SUV, chased the man down and beat him up. They forcefully removed his sneakers and fled the scene, police said.
Investigators found the SUV shortly after in the 1400 block of Turner Street. A handgun and the sneakers were found in the vehicle, police say in a news release.
Levell is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, all of which are misdemeanors. She was sent to Lehigh County Jail on $15,000 bail.
The teens — a 14-year-old and three 15-year-olds — are charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit that offense, as well as misdemeanor offenses of theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault.
