"Get the Lead Out"; Erie Water Works, EPA Highlight Service Line Replacement Project

Senator Dan Laughlin has announced that $10 million in funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) will support critical Erie water infrastructure upgrades.

The Erie City Water Authority will be utilizing the funding to improve overall water quality by modernizing infrastructure while protecting public health throughout the region.

This is Phase 5 of the authority’s customer side galvanized service line replacement project. Around 1,250 aging service lines will be replaced that have been connected to lead components.

Funding provided is a combination of a low-interest loan and grant funding. Construction for this project is expected to begin this year.
