In Philly, 4/20 has evolved far beyond a niche holiday. With cannabis culture becoming more mainstream—and April 20 falling on a Monday this year—celebrations are stretching into a full weekend of events, parties and low-key hangouts.
Whether you’re looking for a party or a relaxed vibe with friends, here are some fun ways to celebrate 4/20 in the city.
Weeding Out the Stoned
Weeding Out the Stoned, aka “The Game Show of Sobriety Tests” is heading to Philadelphia on April 18. During the show, host and creator Alex Grubard administers field sobriety tests, both mental and physical, to a group of cannabis-induced comics (one of which is actually not partaking) so you can determine which are stoned and which comic is stone-cold sober.
The show will hit Sidequest Theater at 7 p.m. Tickets ($15-20) can be bought at the door or online.

Puff. Pass. Paint
This unique event from Stir Up the Paint Philly and Big Bad Radio features a guided 4/20-themed painting session, a “curated selection of vendors catering to the creative smoker”, and an environment to “immerse yourself in artistic expression.”
According to organizers, “This one-of-a-kind 4/20 celebration is designed for creative spirits and elevated minds ready to vibe, unwind, and express themselves.”
This 21+ event takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on April 20. Class begins promptly at 6 p.m. (no late entries past 15 minutes after start time will be allowed). Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Bingo 420
Philly Soul Sweet is bringing its “420 Bingo Experience” to the city, blending classic Bingo with a high-energy party atmosphere and plenty of indulgent treats. The event reimagines the traditional game night, turning each number called into a chance to win different surprises.
Guests will receive a 420-themed Bingo booklet with six opportunities to win, along with access to interactive rounds. A complimentary themed treat is included to kick things off, while additional giveaways and prize drops are expected to pop up during the celebration as well.
The Philly Soul Sweet Food Truck will be on-site with both classic favorites and specialty menu options available. Attendees can expect music, party effects, and immersive Bingo rounds all day.
The 18+ event will take place at Belmont Plateau all weekend (April 17 to 20; Bingo begins at 1 p.m. each day). Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Not every 4/20 celebration needs a ticket.
Some of the best ways to mark the day are simple — a picnic in Fairmount Park, walking the Schuylkill River Trail or enjoying a sunset view from FDR Park.
With spring in full bloom, Philly’s outdoor spaces offer a relaxed, scenic way to celebrate—especially if you’re keeping things low-key.
Indulge in the munchies
4/20 and comfort food go hand in hand, and in Philadelphia, there are endless options.
El Merkury has just rolled out a fresh lineup of seasonal, flavor-packed dishes available at both its Reading Terminal Market and Chestnut Street locations. One stand-out is the strawberry horchata—made with the brand’s signature almond milk and rice water blend, fresh strawberries, sweet cream, and dried strawberries (with an optional espresso shot for a twist).
Sabrina’s Café is celebrating 25 years in business this month with a series of anniversary specials across its six Greater Philadelphia locations. While here, visitors can enjoy a nostalgic return to some of the café’s original 2001 menu items, including a Tuscan chicken sandwich, coconut shrimp over soba noodles, an apple and Wisconsin cheddar omelet, and the barking chihuahua breakfast wrap.
And Jeni’s Spring Collection features flavors like Basque cheesecake with brambleberry jam, black tie tiramisu and key lime pie. Flavors are available by the scoop or pint.
Of course, there are the Philly staples — a cheesesteak from Angelo’s, the famous roast pork sandwich at John’s Roast Pork, and pretty much everything served at Reading Terminal Market.
