Public camping ordinance goes into effect after Wilmington City Council approves third reading

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Wilmington City Council has approved the third reading for a new ordinance during their meeting on Oct. 7.

The ordinance, which will ban sleeping or camping on city property from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., will go into effect immediately.

The ordinance, which passed 5-2 on its first reading and 4-3 on its second, was approved again with a 4-3 vote from council members.
