BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A routine traffic stop in Louisiana led to the arrest of a Texas man wanted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Pennsylvania.
A West Baton Rouge Parish deputy stopped a commercial box truck traveling westbound on I-10 around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday for traffic violations. The sheriff’s office reported the driver’s identity as Ameer Nassar, 25, of Houston, Texas, who was wanted by Pennsylvania State Police in connection with a Bethel Township hit-and-run crash killing a 33-year-old man on April 10.
According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the truck Nassar was driving at the time of the stop was linked to the crash.
Nassar was taken into custody and booked as a fugitive. Authorities said he has since been transferred to the custody of the Pennsylvania State Police.
