According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, A.J. Brown has an understanding that the Philadelphia Eagles will trade him in the summer.
The Eagles haven’t been highly incentivized to move Brown right now because of money. A trade before June 1 would come with a 2026 cap hit of over $40 million, compared to less than $20 million if he’s dealt after that date.

Brown and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $96 million extension in April 2024. The Super Bowl champion has no guaranteed money on his current deal after 2026.
“Eagles GM Howie Roseman continues to say Brown is a member of the Eagles, and that is an unassailable fact,” Jones wrote. “But what sources have pointed out to me is that Brown has done nothing publicly to try to punch his way out of Philly, and those sources have theorized that Brown may have an understanding that a deal will take place at some point in the summer. Making a public stink does not help his position, especially when he could be on another team by OTAs and minicamp in June anyway.”
Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns last season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren’t on the same page and multiple reports have stated that the two stars are no longer close.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He has 339 receptions for 5,034 receiving yards and 32 receiving touchdowns in a Philadelphia uniform, helping the franchise beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Brown has 8,029 receiving yards and 56 receiving touchdowns in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Eagles. It will be fascinating to see where he’s playing next season. He’s been heavily linked to the New England Patriots since Mike Vrabel coached Brown in Tennessee.
Along with the Patriots, Brown has been linked to the Los Angeles Rams as well. The Rams almost traded for Brown last month.
If a Brown trade happens, it will be in the summer, so this story isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
