The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins went 3-0-0-0 last week, beating the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 4-1 on Wednesday. They then swept the Charlotte Checkers over the weekend, outscoring them 7-2 with a 4-0 shutout on Friday and a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday. Today, Penguins’ goalie Sergei Murashov was selected as the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week. In two starts, he stopped 51 of the 52 shots he faced. Murashov posted a 0.50 goals-against average and a .981 save percentage. On Wednesday, he stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced in the 4-1 win. On Friday, he recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 25 Checkers he faced. Murashov this season is 5-0-0 with a 1.40 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage. He will likely get the start on Wednesday night against the Providence Bruins in a battle of undefeated teams in the Atlantic Division.

Sergei Murashov
Murashov joined the Penguins organization in 2024-25. He played in 26 games for the Wheeling Nailers, going 17-7-1. He posted a 2.40 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage, and a shutout. In three Kelly Cup Playoff games, he went 0-3-0 with a 3.82 goals-against average and an .857 save percentage. He also appeared in 16 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 12-3-0. Murashov had a 2.64 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage, and a shutout. He also made one appearance in the Calder Cup Playoffs, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced in a loss.
