WAUKESHA, Wis. (WHP) — A man from Pennsylvania died Wednesday night after he was struck by lightning in Wisconsin.
Peter Paul Garamone Sr., 41, was identified as the man who was struck, CBS 58 reports. Garamone was a long-haul trucker with a wife and son.
Garamone was pronounced dead at a local hospital after he was struck around 7:43 p.m. at a gas station in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
According to Waukesha Police Department, Garamone was walking through the parking lot during a heavy storm when he was struck by lightning.
The manner and cause of death have not been publicly released by the county’s medical examiner. CBS 21 reached out to see if more information was available.
Wednesday’s incident is the first reported lightning fatality in the U.S. this year, according to the National Lightning Safety Council.
