Police and emergency responders were on the scene following a stabbing at a school in Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood Monday afternoon. Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, was over the scene at New Outlook Academy along Agnew Road, where one person appeared to have been taken away in an ambulance. Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed to Action News 4 that officials were called to the scene after 2 p.m. Following the incident, Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said a 15-year-old girl had been stabbed multiple times in the hands and head. They were taken to a hospital and last said to be stable. Officials said the preliminary investigation showed a 14-year-old girl had allegedly stabbed the victim with a pair of scissors. The teen has since been detained by police. New Outlook Academy is a school for at-risk adolescent girls, according to its website. The academy says it provides a “comprehensive and safe rehabilitative residential setting for young women ages 13-18, in grades 7-12.” “Our school is multi-faceted, interweaving academics, clinical treatment, vocational training, counseling, and extra-curricular activities. It provides the transforming environment and unwavering support necessary for these girls to redirect their lives,” the school’s website reads. Action News 4 has reached out to the school for more information on Monday’s incident, but the school said it is unable to provide a comment at this time. This is a developing story.
