On May 7 A.B.A.T.E in Erie will be hosting a public event in hopes to raise awareness for motorcycle riders. The event will be held at South Erie Turners.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Attendees can bring flyers to network and gather with other attendees. An informational video will be played to bring attention to motorcycle awareness month.
On May 16 Mayor Daria Devlin will switch from wearing blazers to wearing helmets and leather as she participates in the Harley’s & Hot Rods Cruise-In and the 32nd Annual Jeremy Grant A.B.A.T.E Awareness Ride.
The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. where riders can register at Soldiers & Sailors Home. At 12:30 p.m. Mayor Devlin and Pennsylvania State Representative Jake Banta will give a presentation. By 1 p.m. riders will lift their kickstands with the expectation that they will reach Harley-Davidson of Erie at 1:30 p.m.
At Soldiers & Sailors Home where the event begins, donations, pins, and flags will be distributed to residents. Attendees will be given pins and flags to show their support.
Awards, community recognition and the Mayor’s Award will be distributed once all riders have reached Harley-Davidson of Erie.
Motorcycle Awareness Month is observed in May and highlights the importance of visibility and a shared responsibility between all motorists and how to keep the roads safe by keeping the motorists and roads safe.
