A man apparently shot himself after dropping his weapon with the safety off early Monday in Clifton Heights, police say.
Police and EMS were dispatched about 3:10 a.m. to the report of a shooting in the 200 block of Cambridge Road.
Dispatch notes indicate the victim was shot in the neck.
Clifton Heights Police Chief Tim Rockenbach said the victim was conscious and speaking when taken to a hospital.
The incident is still under investigation. It appears to be an accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound. He apparently dropped the gun with the safety off, Rockenbach said.
