Reading Hospital has been recognized by two national publications for providing high-quality patient care.

The West Reading hospital was recently named to Forbes‘ “Top Hospitals” list and Newsweek‘s “Worlds Best Hospitals” list. It is the fourth consecutive year Reading Hospital was included on the Newsweek list.

Dr. Charles Barbera, hospital president and CEO, credited the dedicated staff for delivering expert, compassionate and innovative care to patients every day.

“With two decades of experience as a trauma center, the addition of a comprehensive stroke program, and a laser-focus on our patient experience outcomes, we continue to grow stronger,” he said. “We’ve expanded our physician team with the addition of specialists in cardiology, surgery and oncology so we now have the largest medical staff in Reading Hospital’s history.

“Our experience speaks for itself and demonstrates what makes our team and the care we provide truly exceptional.”

Likewise, Tower Health CEO Michael Stern heaped praise on the Reading Hospital staff.

“These recognitions are a direct reflection of the extraordinary commitment of the caregivers and support staff at Reading Hospital,” he said. “I congratulate the team on these achievements and for continuing to set the standard in excellence and compassionate care.”

Forbes’ ranking uses a unique, equity-focused approach that measures overall quality with an emphasis on patient outcomes while accounting for differences in hospital locations and patient populations.

Similarly, Newsweek and Statista awarded the best hospitals based on four data sources: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics and Statista PROMs implementation survey. Based on these four pillars and their respective weights, a final score was calculated for each hospital.
