KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Western Michigan track and field team will hit the road for a trio of meets between Kentucky, Michigan and Pennsylvania. The Brown and Gold will compete in the Clark Wood Open, GVSU Extra Weekend Meet and the Penn Relays this weekend. 

TOP-10 PERFORMER

Despite having only a few athletes competing last weekend, the Broncos were still able to produce a top-10 mark. Sierra Sommers notched the ninth best discus mark in program history. Her throw of 48.23 meters finished third in the entire event. 

WHAT’S COMING UP

As of now, Western Michigan has just one weekend of competition left in the regular season after this week’s action. The Brown and Gold will hit the road for meets at Illinois and Ohio State next weekend before turning its attention to the MAC Championships on May 14-16. 

Following the conference meet, WMU will look to send several athletes to the NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington, Ky. The meet is set for May 27-30.
