A Downtown resident is calling for better police protection after waking up to find his vehicle broken into

Mike Johnston tells KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin says he went outside on the 900 block of Penn Avenue Wednesday morning and saw five vehicles with their windows smashed.

Johnston says he’s just a block from the newly opened Arts Landing.

He says that he’s ready to give up on hope that anything will be done.

“I got to go get the window fixed, that’s 350 bucks. I’m getting ready to put a sign in my window, ‘the door is open, don’t break the window’,” said Johnston.

He says police eventually came and took his report, but they told him it’s been a busy week due to the Draft.

We have reached out to Pittsburgh Police and are awaiting a response.
